Once upon a time there lived a wee little pup named Dot. Oh wait, that is a totally different story... Little miss Dot is now 11 months old. ELEVEN!!! That means she will be 1 (ONE) next month. She comes to work with me everyday except Thursdays and session days (which I usually schedule for Thursdays). Thursdays she is out with a few of her siblings romping and playing while I am actually getting work done and not playing with her. On the days she does come with me, you can pretty much bet that I have some sort of idea that I want to try out with her. She is a little girl at just under 13 lbs, and I had previously found photographing smaller dogs a bit more challenging, just purely because I had no idea what the heck to do with them. Big dogs were easier - so I thought. Little did I know that there were so, so many little doggie clothing and jewelry choices. We have been experimenting, a lot with different lighting set ups and props and ideas too. The past couple of days I have been cleaning the studio, experimenting with a new (to me) lighting layout. I think I am really liking this too. The sole purpose is to get everything figured out so that I can photograph with medium format film and get it right. You see, instead of shooting off 100's of frames in digital, I get 10 frames with my medium format film camera. It is such an amazing process! Here are just a few from the past couple of days adventures in digital format (some converted to black and white). I will have my filmed process next week and update you all to the outcome!
