I was searching through his pictures looking for the perfect profile of him - I wanted to create a painting of Charlie. I spend a bit of time on my paintings, they are not done in one sitting, they evolve over a period of a few days, sometimes a few weeks, I even have a few that are still evolving and it has been months. There are times along this process where I am so afraid to put paint down on paper for fear that I am going to eff it up BIG TIME! Seriously - debilitating anxiety over a few of them. Then one day I will be walking by my work space, pull the painting down and with a little of this and a little of that - done! I don't know why it works like that for me, but it does. Then there are those paintings that are so fun and work out so wonderfully - Charlie was one of those paintings. It took only a few days, and the final touches were the spots on his chest and the deep purple shadows.
I am using this time to teach myself new techniques, both with painting and with photography. To finish projects that had been started and to de-clutter.I am using this time to take care of me, and I really kind of like it.
